Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is a respectable two-building art gallery at the entrance to St. George's Park. One building is dedicated to animal-inspired art collected from all over the world. The other has beautiful large-format paintings from contemporary South African artists, as well as a smaller gallery that features mostly portraits. The museum is also open on the first Sunday of every month from 9am-2pm during Art in the Park, when St. George's transforms into an open-air gallery and flea market.
