Backpackers Ritz is indeed the Ritz of backpackers situated in a large hillside house with friendly staff. The sizable lounge area has a TV where guests tend to relax during the day as well as a sunny lawn and pool in the back. At night there is a dungeon bar in the basement that is usually pretty lively, and if you need a beer during the day there is a beer vending machine. The Ritz is a popular backpackers for independent travelers as well as a start and finish location for large overland trips.
