Amphitheater Backpackers is the center of the Drakensberg backpackers scene, due much in part to its sizable bar. The grounds include a Jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, braai area, and Internet lounge all surrounded by the beautiful Drakensberg amphitheater. In addition to the hostel's evening bar festivities, it also have a resident guide who leads hiking and climbing trips up the Drakensberg, to waterfalls and into Lesotho. Note that while most of the trips are worthwhile, the staff tends to hustle sales on these outdoor activities.
